The 4th annual MIM Alumni Event was a much bigger affair this year. The event was attended by the 44 current ESB MIM students and 25 alumni.
The event kicked off with a Get Together at the ESB on Friday afternoon where the alumni from the Class of 2013 met with the current Class of 2014 and shared their experiences of successfully completing the programme and looking for a job afterwards. The group then moved off campus to do an in-depth tour of Reutlingen’s many pubs which ended in the wee hours!
On Sat morning the Annual MIM Alumni Brunch took place at the City Hotel Fortuna and was attended by 70 people. The alumni were clustered at tables according to their industry and students interested in these industries were able to engage with them directly. There were three guest speakers. Bastian Schlochermeyer (USA/D 2012), Associate Account Strategist, Google, Dublin, gave an insight into day to day work at Google. Next up was Steve Warrick (GB/D 2005), Program Manager, Compact Class VW AG, Wolfsburg, who has recently moved to Germany from VW in the USA. Steve spoke about the importance of being aware of the intercultural element in international companies. As the “oldest boy” at the event he also shared his tips on how to be a good manager. The final speaker was Ben Druge (US/D 2010), Associate, Oliver Wyman. Now in his third year with Oliver Wyman, he spoke about his career development to date with the company and what perspectives it has in store for him.
The event was a huge success and next year’s meeting is already in the planning!
